Teng Zhang, Director of Projects
As director of projects, Teng and his team are responsible for supporting clients to meet their marketing targets through digital advertising and solving problems as they come about. After graduating from Renmin University of China, Teng joined DeepZero | iPinYou as an intern when he was a junior. Now it’s his third year at DeepZero | iPinYou.
Beyond work: Teng loves to work out and enjoys his fitness routine. As a gym-goer, he likes weight lifting the most, because that gives him a strong and energetic body. He perceives himself as a workaholic that always aiming at winning!
You joined DeepZero | iPinYou as a junior and decided to stay here as your first job, what made you make that decision?
In my first half year as an intern, I had a chance to meet the CMO of a unicorn e-commerce client with my team. This is a great opportunity for an intern, which you may not have elsewhere. From the day I joined, DeepZero | iPinYou has provided me with extensive training to ensure I am equipped with knowledge and skills when it comes to working with clients. I think I am still learning every day, this is why I didn’t hesitate to take the job offer after graduation.

You have been promoted from assistant optimizer to director within one year, how did you make it?
I guess learning and hard work are the key. At the beginning of my career, my training session covered a broad overview of programmatic advertising in general and the DeepZero | iPinYou ad-serving platform in particular. During my training and my day-to-day work, I am fascinated by the tons of knowledge I want to learn and the many talents I can learn from. The best part is that everything is process-driven, which enhances scalability and efficiency for skill development and execution. Having a platform that provides the chance to keep learning made me grow up from an assistant optimizer who manages a few thousand daily budgets to a team leader who manages a 10 million budget for clients. I am very grateful.
Geliang Chen, Software Engineer
Graduated from Tsinghua University, as a master of computer science, Geliang joined iPinYou right after graduation since 2017. As a software engineer, Geliang builds and delivers features for iPinYou ad serving and data management platforms. He also works as part of a pod that responsible for supporting sales team with pitching clients and building algorithm-driven platforms that serving clients.
Beyond work: Geliang loves playing baseball when he is off work. Family matters the most to him, and he considers family is strongest bond that ever encountered in his life. Also, he thinks that he is born for coding.
What parts of your work inspire you?
DeepZero | iPinYou has an open mind for new team members. I remembered clearly that I failed at my first presentation to clients. At that time, I don’t know how to be less techy and speak less terminologies as an engineer. I was very frustrated, but what surprised me was that I was given another chance to present. My supervisor told me, “You are allowed to make mistakes as long as you can make it right next time”. I learned a lot about programmatic algorithms and how to present them attractively from my team members since then. Working with smart people to solve interesting problems is what inspires me the most at DeepZero | iPinYou. I am lucky that I work with a group of hard-working, grounded people who inspire each other.

Has your role as a software engineer ever changed with the company?
When I first joined, I was coding every day. Programming is an abstract work that doesn’t allow you to see the immediate impact on business. Now I am supporting our sales team as a technician, this allows me to understand clients’ needs and the logic behind our products. It is great to partner with the business team because I can better understand the root of the problem I am solving and provide better insights on the backbone of our platform.
Hailey Ouyang, HRBP
Graduated with a master's major in human resources from Aston University, Hailey joined DeepZero | iPinYou right after graduation in 2019. Since her onboarding, Hailey started to create an impactful career shaping the leadership and people agenda across DeepZero | iPinYou as an HR Business Partner.
Beyond work: Hailey loves playing tennis and reading in her leisure time. She just started learning baking and making coffee. She values herself as a “Pacifist” who hates conflicts.
For all the job offers you had, why did you choose DeepZero | iPinYou to start your career?
I was very impressed by DeepZero | iPinYou from my interview. I met the HR, COO, and CEO in my third round of interviews, and each of them was very patient answering my questions and offering advice from various perspectives. I decided to join this company that impressed me with my interview.
How would you describe the culture at DeepZero | iPinYou, what makes it unique?
We have a very good collaborative work culture, and management has made it a real commitment to preserve that culture as the company grows. When I was looking for jobs, I was looking first for culture and second for exciting work, and I have found both at DeepZero | iPinYou. When I just started this job, I was in charge of DeepZero | iPinYou's mid-year training. That was very challenging for a newcomer. It was incredible that members of our HR team helped me with every detail, from training materials placement to setting the pace of the whole training session. Besides telling me what to do, they taught me the reason behind it and how can I do better in the future. I am thrilled to work with a group of helping and inspiring people.
